Hello I don't know if anyone still interested in this bug, but aparently
the xrandr changes NTSC to PAL correctly, you just need to execute:
xrandr --output "TV1" --set "mode" "PAL".
(change 'TV1' for your xrandr device name)

exactly what did you do? cause i have the same chipset and i cant get it
working. i had the screen on the tv for a while in GDM but it
disappeared when i logged in and Gnome started up. now i have neither
and i have no idea what to put in my xorg.conf...

You said "it worked", how abouth the color of you screen on TV?
I can show the screen on TV, but the color has problem. and the I can set
xrandr TV_FORMAT to "PAL", only NTSC...

Thanks, it worked! I cant believe i spent so many days/hours on it and
it was so simple to do... i still cant believe it.. but i had to put my
laptop to sleep and bring it back so i can have the tv working, is that
a bug? i find it weird i have to put it to sleep and back to be able to
use the TV.

A 'me too' here, having tried every solution google and ubuntu forums
would give me to get S-video started without success (i.e. messing
