closing that should be fixed using the current version, you can reopen
the bug if you still get the issue

i get the same behavior using vlc and openoffice when using the browse for a
file function. i could only reproduce the error in gdb using vlc and not using
openoffice; the full backtrace is attatched.
using the compiled version vlc from source (VLC media player 0.8.6i Janus) i
cannot reproduce t
I am seeing this as well after an upgrade to 8.04 in OpenOffice when
select Open (a file):
$ openoffice
$
GLib-GObject-ERROR **: g_type_plugin_*() invalidly modified type `GFileInfo'
aborting...
And now OpenOffice is just hung with the File menu open and had to be
killed.
