I found the reason why mine was crashing. It appears one of my plugins
was crashing forcing pidgin to segfault.

I got this too. Before crashing I was chatting with a friend but the
chat window incorrectly listed me as "Not authorized". When I closed the
chat window pidgin died.

I'm also experiencing this problem with pidgin. It randomly segfaults,
and I'm not doing file transfers. So far, I'm not able to find any sort
of pattern. I am using Ubuntu Hardy and pidgin 2.4.3 from the backports.
