A similar bug report for Pidgin (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/185737) was reported previously. While the versions are different (Kernel 2.6.24-4-generic, Pidgin 1:2.3.1-2ubuntu1), it is also a Segfault with error code 4.
