I am seeing this on Ubuntu 9.04 -- don't know if it should be re-opened

I had this issue on 8.04, saw this thread, performed all upgrades (in
this case it was the kernel) and then the Fn power keys worked. Now

@Ben Woodruff -- can you confirm that this is with the new -proposed

The output of uname -a and lsmod would confirm these.

I have some test kernels for Intrepid posted up which have the original
toshiba_acpi module enabled. It would be helpful if anyone who with
this hardware could test that version and report back:

It seems this bug is related to (or even a duplicate of) bug 269831
which is currently seeing some development:

It might be good for those still experiencing issues here to track that
bug as well. Thanks.

Reverting to kernel 2.6.24-21-generic and running modprobe toshiba_acpi
brings the Fn+F7 & F8 key combos back (brightness). It still does not
bring Fn+F1 (lock screen), etc (everything except brightness controls as
far as I can tell).

I'm running 8.10 final on a Toshiba Tecra M2-S410 and am unable to get
any Fn key combinations to work. I would especially like Fn+F1 (lock

I did switch to the Beta 8.10 release running 2.6.27-4. Unfortunately,
now several things related to acpi have stopped working:
1. The toshiba-acpi kernel module itself seems to be missing. Thus, the
Fn + keys for controlling brightness, etc., don't work at all.
2. I can still choose Hibernate fr
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

I am having similar problem/behavior on a Toshiba Dynabook TX/760LS. I
have a clean install of Hardy Heron 8.04 and the FN key does not
function at all which means, in my case, I cannot use ANY of my hotkeys
as they are all dependent on the FN key.
Is there any progress on a solution?
Thanks
