I just bought a new laptop.. had the same problem before with ALC883 but
finally found the right "options snd-hda-intel..." which would work.
Anyway this new laptop has a ALC888 and same problem... I have to test
different settings to see which one will work. so basically I wanted to let you

instructed.
I am pleased to inform you the issue appears to be resolved on 8.10
Alpha 4.

Hi Ryan,
It looks like this didn't get resolved for Hardy. Can you just confirm
this is still an issue with the latest Alpha for the upcoming Intrepid
Ibex 8.10. You should be able to test via a LiveCD -
