Hi, I just bought a new laptop.. had the same problem before with ALC883 but finally found the right "options snd-hda-intel..." which would work. Anyway this new laptop has a ALC888 and same problem... I have to test different settings to see which one will work. so basically I wanted to let you know that this is not fixed.
I am running the alpha of Jaunty and tried Intrepid release just to tell you that it doesn't work either!
