Confirmed in 8.04 full release. Once "Login Window" (finally) starts, it then
starts as quickly as expected subsequently, until reboot.

I can confirm this also. Have installed Hardy finale on 5 machines so

I confirm this bug. For me it happend with the Hardy RC as well as with
a perfectly fresh installation of the final Hardy Heron. In every case
it seems to happen only the first time you open that preferences window.
That took more than 5 minutes for me. Now when i do it again it works

It's very long to launch (about 1min). At launch cursor is set to the "time
wit" icon, but after 15sec it's set to the arrow. So user don't know what's
happen, why gdmsetup is not launched. Only Geeks ;-) that looks at hdd led
activity can see that something is working hard.

I can confirm, this happens to me as well. I forgot I even clicked the
login window icon and it appeared minutes later. After that it seems
fine, I don't know if it's the first time you ever open it or the first
time per session.

I would like to reconfirm my report here again. Today I have Hardy Heron
installed from anew and the same story repeated - wanted to change some
