Does the LiveCD work out of the box too? I am closing your bug for now
but feel free to open it again if it still happens with final Hardy Live

I've just installed Hardy Final to my HD. The bug seems to be fixed in
that release.
However, I used the alternate install CD with LILO rather than grub and
no splash screen while booting so that's a slightly different setup than
the live CD that I've used before (I understand that registers can

Looking in your Xorg.0.log, this bit looks odd:

Oh, reading a second time, you *weren't* able to find one that
reproduced the bug. Hrm, so perhaps simply one of the quirk fixes in
the above list are necessary to make things work. So the fix for the
issue must have come from some point prior to 20080205. Too large of a
list to weed through in

Shaun, thanks! So now we know that there is some patch available
upstream to fix this, and we just need to locate that patch.
Could you go to http://people.ubuntu.com/~bryce/bisect/ and test some
packages between rac763634 and 2.2.1-1ubuntu5 ? For example:
test r0fd769b5, then if that fails, te

Shaun, thanks for confirming that switching to XAA removes the problem.
Since upstream wishes to deprecate XAA in favor of EXA, this sounds like
an issue we should upstream to them.
