Looking in your Xorg.0.log, this bit looks odd:

(==) intel(0): VideoRam: 131072 KB
(**) intel(0): Framebuffer compression disabled
(**) intel(0): Tiling enabled
(II) intel(0): Attempting memory allocation with tiled buffers.
(WW) intel(0): xf86AllocateGARTMemory: allocation of 10 pages failed
        (Cannot allocate memory)
(II) intel(0): Success.

unfortunately a quick browse of the upstream patches didn't find one
that jumped out at me as the obvious one.

So, I'm going to leave this one for now, until I get a chance to build
more -intel packages with more variations in what quirks are included
and so on, so we can see if we can reproduce the bug on one of these
versions. Meanwhile I'll re-open your upstream bug to see if we can get
some insights into which patch it might have been.
