As far as I can tell, what you are experiencing is no bug in Ubuntu or
Firefox.
When you are on Windows, you connect to some local HTTP-server which Windows
started for you. As there is no IIS on Ubuntu and it does not have any
webserver started by default, it is no wonder that connecting to loc
i was using firefox,but when i connect to localhost inside XP i get iis
welcome message,i need to connect to localhost to work with programming
and webserver.when i establish connection with localhost i will be able
to run a webserver,execute a program etc.

Could you post some more information on what you are trying to do? Interesting
points could be what you try to connect to on localhost, whether you actually
need to use a proxy to connect to the internet and such.
And yep, Firefox can probably need additional proxy configuration in order to
acce
