This appears to be a bug in the Cisco VPN client and should be brought
to the attention to Cisco Systems.
There appears to be an open source alternative called vpnc that you may
wish to try.

I am running OpenSuse 10.3 on an xps 1330 with the cisco vpn client. I
connect to the campus lan via the vpn on or off campus, and occasionally
the same thing would happen as previously mentioned. Everything freezes
but the power button, not even alt+prtscrn REISUB works. I'm starting to
think this
Same thing here. I am running Ubuntu Gutsy on a Dell XPS M1330. When it
freezes, the whole computer is non-responsive, and the caps lock and num lock
keys blink in unison.

I just tested without the cisco VPN client, and its working perfectly.
so is this the VPN clients fault, or is it something entirely else?
