Hmm, well I guess we can close it as fixed. But if anyone does
encounter it again and can reproduce it and get a backtrace, please
reopen with the additional details.

Could someone able to reproduce this issue please follow the steps at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing to obtain a full backtrace on the
issue? I've not been able to reproduce it on either of my 965GM
systems; are there any special steps involved in reproducing it?

I am having the exact same problem, on Gutsy. Whenever I try to view any
video content, the X server crashes. Tried it with Xine and mplayer,
both the same result. The Xorg.0.log file ends with this:

unggnu, let's leave this one open. While we don't have enough info to
reproduce this issue easily, we've seen a large number of (possibly
related) totem bug reports, and this may provide a valuable data point.
Matt, last month I put in a patch for 965GM to fix several issues when
using Compiz on

I guess we can close the bug report according to your comment. Maybe it is a
hardware issue if the whole system gets stuck.
Feel free to open it again if it still happens with current Hardy.

As can be seen in the original report (DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04), this
was tested on Hardy.
I have not been able to reproduce this crash since, but I did
(separately) experience a complete system freeze (unable to get a log)
when starting DVD playback.
Unfortunately, neither this nor the origin
