This seems to fix it for me:
run gconf-editor
go to apps->gwd and untick use_metacity_theme
Possibly restart your x-server/compiz (log out and in again, don't know
if this is needed)

Tom, your problem is different and is a known problem with the nvidia
driver when using two screens (not twinview). The original bug listed
here was a problem with gnome-control-center that should be fixed now.

I have enabled dual screens via "NVidia X server settings" (nvidia-

the X servers. A slowing of "pop ups" when clicking the Applications,

Let's see what the compiz devs say.. the issue is not familiar to me.

I had the same problem with Hardy Beta with an mx440 based card

Just tested the beta iso. Problem still exists exactly as described
above. I don't see that anyone of the Ubuntu QA or dev team is caring
about it, but if this bug will slip into the final hardy release,
possibly many people who install it on a system with (maybe only older)

I can confirm this bug. Tried it with fresh installation of hardy alpha4

disappear as soon as I turn on effects (i.e. compiz). I only have window
decorations when I set appearance to no effects (i.e. metacity). I also
