I haven't had the looping bongo drums bug in a long time. I have been
installing updates when they are available so I assume that the bug was
fixed in one of the updates. Here is my current status:
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 8.04.2"
can anybody confirm that the fix from komputika solves the problem, or
if it is still happening?

looping sound issue as well as intermittent wi-fi issues on my MSI
Vr320. Adding irqpoll solved everything. I am now running 2.6.26 on a
Debian Lenny/Testing, but this fix should be fine on Ubuntu as well.

Hello.
I'm also having the same problem with 2 other MSI VR 320's. Version 8.04
didn't seem to do anything to rectify this. The soundcard used for this
laptop uses the ALC883 Audio Codec (from Realtek). Any thoughts?

If you install the linux-backports-modules-$(uname -r) package and then
reboot, is this symptom reproducible?
