OK, this looks like that a new ZFS in being installed against the old
kernel and this causes the initial old zfs dkms build to fail against
the older kernel headers, and then when the new headers of the new
kernel with the new zfs are installed this gets rectified. So as long as

I too have make.logs from 2 different kernel versions.
I changed the file names to make it more clear.
I don't see any errors.
The original error, which triggered the bug report, popped up at the
very final stages of upgrading ubuntu versions from 16.10 to 17.04 using

Thanks Plaiasu. It looks like the module builds fine with
0.6.5.9-5ubuntu4 and 4.10.0-19-generic. I suspect this is no longer a
problem now for you. Without a failure log and a means to reproduce
this I'm not sure how I can fix the original issue.
