unity screen not locking consistently

I have it set. Just a few notes.
- I have set "Turn scree off when inactive for: 5 mins"
- And "Lock screen after: 5 mins"
And note that the option is in "Brightness & Lock" options, not in
"Power" in the unity settings.
Also, one behavior that I noticed is that the screen turns black, but it
is
Check power options under system-settings->power->screen-brightness.
Change "Turn screen off while inactive for". If this doesn't work then
it could be a problem with drm/kernel.
