I'd like to see this bug get a higher priority. My mail server is
courier-pop-ssl, and it's a show-stopper for me that Evolution can't
connect to it. I had just migrated my accounts to Evolution from
Thunderbird (which works just fine with courier-pop-ssl), and now I'll
have to abandon Evolution
Thanks for your report, may you please run evolution as: CAMEL_DEBUG=all
evolution >& evo.log . try to reproduce the bug and attach that log to
the report? thanks.

The randomness of this bug really suggested that this was some kind of
memory corruption, so I ran Evolution through Valgrind/Memcheck. All of
the memory errors are from LD and X (and probably false alarms), and no
memory errors occurred when downloading new e-mails nor when the error
message appea
I have this same problem with POP3 mail account.

I forgot to mention that connecting to the server without SSL works
fine, even though the server sends the same greeting:
