Thanks so much for the response. I ended up getting frustrated trying
stuff, that i completely reinstalled 6.06 and upgraded from that version
by version up to 7.10. It now boots just fine.

I've reinstalled Ubuntu Gutsy, from scratch. I formatted both my root partition
and my home partition. The problem still persists. I'm going to try
reinstalling Grub, but I don't think that's the issue. If that doesn't work,
I'll install Edgy and if that boots properly, i'll upgrade from
