I had exactly the same problem too on 15.10. Restarting the iwlwifi
kernel module fixed it, but that's not ideal.
My machine is a thinkpad x1 carbon (3rd generation) and device is a
Intel 7265D wifi device.

the problem as same for me,
I have worked good few years
Until Ubuntu 16.04 daily 20160406 works fine. the release run on the kernel
4.4.16.
that is, the Wifi has no problem until got 16.04 daily 20160415+later.
My WiFi connection failed mostly since I have upgrade to daily 20160415 +
later.
Ok, now this is interesting. Looks like probably not a kernel bug but
perhaps network manager?
Installed the updated upstream kernel deb, suspended, waited, woke the
laptop.

the screenshot) network manager shows no connection t

Hard to know. This laptop is a week old (to me) so 16.04 is the first
release it's had.
