I can't believe. There has almost 1 year passed since the first report, nobody
has corrected it in 7.10??
I am very much pissed off. Has it been fixed at least in later releases? (I did
not upgrade to 8.04, because my wireless card did not work anymore with that
release)

i tried to install it from the source
apt-get --build source libgimp-perl
but i'm getting this compilation problem:

I can confirm this isn't working.

Can you please tell exactly the arguments i should pass to apt-get and

Same here with Gutsy upgraded from Feisty. I really need it, too.
However downloading the deb package manually and installing it with dpkg
--force-conflicts -i works fine. In bug #127009 it is said that the new gimp
package is incompatible with this package but at least all my scripts work

As I really need this package, I now "apt-get --build source"d it and
installed it using dpkg --force-conflicts -i. It worked just fine. So
maybe it just needs to be rebuilt and assigned a new version number?
Maybe it even works as is, I haven't tried using the binary package with
GIMP 2.4.
