FWIW, I have installed the Intrepid Ibex release candidate on my Sony
VAIO TZ, and I now how have no problems with suspend and hibernate.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
On hardy beta suspend works, but hibernation does not resume properly.
The laptop starts through the "normal" grub starting procedure and ends
up in a very strange state when programs do not open properly. They try,

Tried to disable the fgrlx driver through restricted-manager but cannot do that
since it also crashes.

Here is the dmesg file after running the following command (and hard reboot,
since suspend nor resume does not work)
sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force
There is no pm_trace file in /sys/power, however.
Additionally, before the blank black screen comes up, it seems tha
lspci -vvnn is attached
