Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work
With Hardy Heron Brightness seems to work like it should.
Thanks to whoever fixed that :)
Still, special keys like volume up and down, brightness up and down are
a no go :/

Seems it didn't have anything to do with latest updates, bug reoccurred.
I haven't been able to figure out what triggers the bug or triggers the correct
behavior.

Yes the problem still exists BUT:
When i boot the laptop on battery, gnome power management dimming works,
which means i get only half the brightness when i log into gnome. When i
