Hey hey, major breakthrough!
I found out that the significant environmental property seems to be not
CPU architecture, but locale!
I normally use the locale "en_GB.UTF-8". But if I set LC_ALL to "C", then
theme switching suddenly
works.
Please check if you can reproduce the problem on your end
I did some stracing, and found that the following happens on startup
after I have copied in your chrome.rdf:
1) iceape opens chrome.rdf readonly, and reads the contents.
1.5) some other stuff happens including reading of my .gtkrc-2.0 and a lot of
.xpt files.
2) iceape then tries to reopen the fi

I tried copying your chrome.rdf into my new profiles. What happens is that

I'm unable to reproduce the problem on my work computer (AMD64, Debian

The difference i see that is smacking me in the face is that my
chrome.rdf is empty and hasnt ever been written to with new or old
profiles. Im looking into why, ill attach mine.

Hm, while this didn't exactly solve the problem, it made me realize something:
If the theme is set in a newly created profile in the same session (i.e. the
profile
is created and the theme set without exiting the browser in between), then
it is possible to set the theme to which iceape reverts.

For me this doesn't happen in 1.1.4 ... neither gutsy nor debian-sid.
I would suggest that you completely purge the iceape-browser and ensure
that there are no leftovers (except the plugins directory) in
/usr/lib/iceape/ /usr/share/iceape
... maybe you once ran your iceape as root and now you ha
I just got emails from one of debian lists im subscribed to and they
