There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem may have been fix
The problem is likely a combination of a libgphoto2 and a Digikam issue.
Libgphoto2 sets a wrong file last modified time on importing, and
Digikam uses the modified time instead of the file created time. The
problem in digikam should be solved either way, as in my opinion it's
the created time whi
Addition: I just installed Jaunty on a separate partition to test this,
and the problem does not seem to be solved in the Digikam 0.10 version.
So even upgrading to Jaunty doesn't help.
I guess I'm forced to buy a card reader and use that from now on, which
hopefully does solve the problem.

Based on the Digikam changelog it might have been solved in either 0.9.5
(KDE3) or 0.10 (KDE4) or both. Which is not very useful if you're using
hardy.
Seems like upgrading to Jaunty (which has the 0.10 version) is the only
solution. The dependencies of the 0.10 version are so complex that

I am using Digikam 0.9.3 on Xubuntu Hardy with a Canon Powershot SX10 IS
and in this version the problem still exists, so I'm setting this back
to Confirmed. If it's known to fixed in a later version, please post the
relevant version.

Well, it does indeed happen to me. I just tried on a second computer
with a new install of Feisty. Same problem!
But what is even stranger is that the same problem exists with my cell
phone (Sony Ericsson W800i), but with this camera the time is two hours
off in the other direction! This also happ

Tried to reproduce that, but didn't succeed.
Photos get correct names, exactly what the date and time they were taken on.
My camera is Olympus mju D 500
What date format have you selected on import ?
