I did $ sudo apt-get install libxine-extracodecs which include 2 other lib and one of them is libxine1-ffmpeg. I install automatix2 and choose to install mplayer as firefox plug-in. It installs a few things and it seems to install totem which plays everything fine but not gxine. On Fri, 2007-06

it is xubuntu lacks of lib to support video card and codecs. Totem with proper lib can playback properly but gxine failed in every attempt. I don't think this is a bug but at least make OGG multimedia able to be played on Xubuntu. ** Changed in: gxine (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Rejected

Installing "Multimedia Codecs" provided by Automatix2. install libraries needed for multimedia SOLVED the problem. Gxine still cannot playback the video BUT TOTEM CAN! No more intermittent log out. BUT compares to Ubuntu, Xubuntu Totem video playback lags a lot. It feels so 'heavy'. I am surprised

Before this I have tried Ubuntu 7.04 LiveCD installation, Totem plays without any problem. I think it uses xine as I have to install libxine- extracodecs to playback MP3. Same here with gxine. On the same machine using VMware, Ubuntu Totem plays video without any glitch. I give up on gxine and ins

Your initial report looks like an X or VMware bug. Your second report is a separate problem and is likely to be a graphics driver or hardware problem, but you say neither what hardware nor which of xine-lib's video output drivers is in use. Regardless, this isn't a gxine bug, but one in xine-lib o
