John, please disregard my request; I did not notice that you included
your dmesg file. I have recently found a kernel regression that affects
ACPI on some older machines and might give symptoms similar to yours.
However, looking at your dmesg I do not see the output that this
regression would cause
John, can you provide the output of the following command:
dmesg | egrep "DMI|ACPI"

I believe I accomplished what you asked (I'm just a little out of my
depth on this).
The output of uname -a:
Linux russianridge 3.9.0-030900rc3-generic #201303171935 SMP Sun Mar 17
23:36:17 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
which seems to indicate that I have the new kernel.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.9 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both
the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.
If this bug is fixed in the ma
