Live-cd crashed my internet connection

I have made it work again now, but it took a lot of time in front of the
computer. In tried to reboot, but that didn't work so I tried to look in
'internet options', but it wasn't that either. But then at last I've found out
that it was the firewall which it apparently had interrupted with. I am

actually the live cd writes no date at all to your hard disk or have you
installed ubuntu on you hard disk besides the existing xp installation?
Even if so, there is no connection to your connectivity problems. Could
you please reboot all hardware responsible for your internet connection
