Dear Jan,
actually the live cd writes no date at all to your hard disk or have you
installed ubuntu on you hard disk besides the existing xp installation?
Even if so, there is no connection to your connectivity problems. Could
you please reboot all hardware responsible for your internet connection
and ask your isp if there are any known problems? A single boot from a
live does not change settings by intention.
If you still think so: Please provide is with more details about the
technical setup of your connection.
