I have my PC back after a warranty repair (mainboard replaced and update
to the newest BIOS version). I have connected the keyboard to a USB 3.0
port (like the mouse in bug 1029882) and the problem seems to be gone.

Bryce, currently the computer is returned on warranty for repair, as due
to other problems I tried to update the firmware (BIOS) and before I
even got into a firmware updater utility, the box died. Probably it was
already somewhat broken or the original firmware has bugs preventing an
update.

Why do you think the issue is due to the graphics driver? Did you try
testing with xev?
