Same issue on eeepc 1201 (ION) karmic with updated kernel
2.6.33-020633rc4-generic. ( I hoped it would help in some way).
I get
ACPI: I/O resource nForce2_smbus [0x4e00-0x4e3f] conflicts with ACPI region
SM00 [0x4e00-0x4e3f]
Problem: freeze on lan transfer, no log, no trace & bios reseted !
I had this problem on my eeepc 1201 ION on karmic ubuntu (2.6.31-17-generic).
I upgrade to 2.6.33-020633rc4-generic with the
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-195.30-pkg2.run nividia drivers.
I submitted my netbook to highload (I found out that the freeze occured
mostly on heavy hdd access )

I tested the "extracted firmware" and the one proposed by
linux-firmware-nonfree (1.2.1)
/dev/dvb is still not created and kaffeine won't detect any device
I have an other PVR150 tv card (could this conflict ? )
