The module ide-generic is missing on the Ubuntu 8.10 server install CD.
This is critical as it prevents the system to be installed on some older
systems where the CDROM detection fails. This problem can normally be
solved by manually loading ide-generic via the busybox shell,
On my system the big difference is if I am using an fqdn or a plain IP address.
ftp://myserver.mydomain.here works fine (I get the dialog and can log on)
ftp://192.168.1.8 opens the dialog as well, but I am not getting in.
I checked the logs on the server (vsftpd): It actually logs in, but konquero
