This bug looks like it is fixed in 24.04. Tested with
xubuntu-24.04-minimal-amd64.iso, sudo apt install gwenview, and then
running "gwenview ." works and allows me to browse directories.

As /usr/share/virtualbox/VBox.sh includes references to
"VirtualBoxVM|virtualboxvm" it can be fixed by creating symlinks in a
similar way to the other Virtual Box commands. Specifically:
ln -s ../share/virtualbox/VBox.s
The virtualbox help message refers to VirtualBoxVM:

slideshow screensaver
