This bug was reported nearly 3.5 years ago. 10.04 has reached EOL. It
was the only version of Ubuntu I had the problem with. I haven't used
Ubuntu since 11.10 so I do not know what the newer versions are like
with regards to this bug (if it has come back or not). Just as a side
note, after leaving
Same for me. Acer Extensa 2300. fine with Lucid and Karmic kernels but
no mouse pointer visible with kernel 2.6.35-14 in normal mode. Mouse
pointer works in Recovery mode though.
My Graphics is i855 so I needed to set nomodeset=1 to get normal mode to
show at all even without a mouse pointer.

This is my laptop:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/Old/AcerExtensa2300 and the
relevant Wireless card is the Acer version of the IPN2220 Wireless LAN
Card.
I tried various ndiswrappers today but no change, unfortunately because
I was hoping it would be simple like the old Gutsy to Feisty
This issue affects me as well. I updated from Karmic to Lucid and then
Maverick through Update Manager. Karmic was an absolutely clean install
which was updated straight to Lucid and likewise Lucid straight to
Maverick. Both the Karmic and Lucid kernels are still in my system and
both work perfectl
If you take a look at the forums you will notice that there are alot of
threads where I have recommended this for low RAM systems. The last time
ureadahead was on my laptop it took over 2 hours to get anywhere after a
reprofile. I just automatically remove it on low RAM systems now because
of this.
I think people are assuming that the original bug is the same as, what
appears to me anyway, other bugs with regards to playing videos. I also
have the video bug but doubt very much that it is related to the kms
booting bug.

@ yannis, While I didn't use the LiveCD I did a clean install on
Saturday with the AlternateCD, and also the MiniCD (I have 2 separate
systems on 1 laptop) and they were ok. Maybe you could try with the
AlternateCD.

@ madmax1735: Max my friend, Steve Langasek pointed that link out 6 days
ago in this very bug report. He posted it because I asked if I would
have to set it each time a new kernel was installed or Grub was updated.
Glad to see things working for you now.

possibly slightly quicker than the 2.6.32-20 kernel.
My only question now is will I have to manually modify grub.cfg each
time a kernel or Grub is replaced?
Thanks again.

Drahcir, just from what you have written it looks like you have done it
as I did. I don't understand why it works for me but not for you.
If you use it in unencrypted or WEP mode does it work? If yes does it
bring up that it wants to update the ndiswrapper components? If it does

Gustavo and Drahcir, have you tried doing as I suggested? If not I

All you need to do is to use Gutsy's version of ndiswrapper Utils and

and has been since my post above where I say I fixed it which was a week

[Hardy] ndiswrapper does not function with 2.6.24

Since my last post I reset my network with WEP encryption. Rebooted the
modem, rebooted the laptop, signed in and it worked, have not had an
issue all afternoon (6 hours nearly). Will try WPA tomorrow and see how
that goes and report what happens.

[Hardy] ndiswrapper does not function with 2.6
The laptop has been on since 5am this morning and it is now 11.31 am and
no problems.
No my network isn't encrypted, but that, for me at least, is beside the
fact because I couldn't get it to work at all before with Hardy's

I installed the basic Hardy Beta1 i386 CD, then installed ndiswrapper
from the corresponding Gutsy CD. The only issue I have had today is
blackouts and I can't blame Ubuntu or ndiswrapper for that.
I have been able to use the laptop with no problem while i have had
power and that has been most of

I have a similar setup to wildwaldbiberhirte but I am getting a
different response from ndiswrapper than anyone here has posted as yet.
I installed Hardy, installed the Ubuntu version of ndiswrapper supplied
