Using Oneiric, I am still experiencing the delay noted above. The server
showing this delay is currently very underutilized, that is, low CPU
utilization, lots of free RAM, low net if utilization, etc. There are no
process hogs.
Stopping/restarting avahi-daemon did not help at all. No console-kit
@C. Perrier: I've got no business on this bug other than to say that I,
at least, have found Samba debs to work quite well. I appreciate the
work the maintainers do -- it frees me up to beat my head against the
slapd wall. :)

I can confirm this problem. I know that I was able to use the garmin-gps

libgcrypt11 and its dependencies like svn and cupsd work. Since this is
a regression, it would be nice to find a fix, but the work-around is not

driver somehow stomps on the bcmwl driver, so I try to build the
subversion version of openchrome... to find out that the padlock driver

Well, it turns out that there is not apparmor kernel module on my
system. Running 2.6.30-9-generic at the moment. This would be why the
apparmor init script fails and why aa-complain also fails.
Could someone tell me what package provides apparmor? I had assumed it
was part of the normal ***-gener
I tried; however, it is empty. I ran /etc/init.d/cups restart, got the
signal 6 failure, but the log is blank. I will be away until Monday.

And, sorry, by removing the recursive symlinks, I no longer have this issue.
It was pretty straightforward, as I remember. In /usr/share/ppd/foo/bar there
would be a link to /usr/share/ppd/foo.
When the update script ran, it would recursively
Resolved the issue by deleting the ppd cache. Apparently there were
recursive symlinks in the ppd directory which had caused an over 81k
ppds to be cached. I do not know how this came to be; but, somewhere in
the various and sundry upgrades it happened.

Woops. Seems that a reboot fixes the issue. My suggestion is that
whatever flag be set in order to have the Update Notification applet
indicate that a reboot is necessary.

I installed the legacy nvidia drivers, not the normal package. Once I
changed to the normal package everything was fine.

I am having a very similar problem. I am using a Pentium D 805 dual core
on a ECS RC410L/800-Mv2.0, 3 IDE HDDs, 0 SATA devices, 1 IDE HDD. I have
tried installing from both the 6.06 alternate install CD and the 6.06
desktop CD. In either case, the system works fine, but with only 1 CPU
