had to remove xorg.conf to enable my system to boot to unity again. I've

For others, I found that pressing Alt+SysRq+K as soon as GDM first loads fixes
the problem temporarily.

This problem was solved for me in the Red Hat Bugzilla.

I was directed to look at this issue:

Running the recommanded command `dmraid -rE` then solved the problem, on

I fixed it by doing the following:
$ sudo rm /etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf
$ sudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/10-hinting-medium.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
Qt apps and the like were none the worse for it.

I can confirm this also occurs in both in live mode, and pure installer
mode, for the i386 AND amd64 RC installers.
Disconnecting the disks I did not want to install on did not fix the
problem, instead the installer session never managed to load X during
boot. I'm not sure if this is related.
