I have Samsung Syncmaster 204Ts which worked fine with Ubuntu 10.04
using DVI connection. Since 10.10 the screen is blank with DVI
connection and I get invalid EDID errors constantly.
Combining two solutions below I was able to get DVI working again:

I use Kaffeine. Menu: DVB -> Channels -> Signal (or just key C). SNR
(signal-noise ratio) is always 0, but you can see that with 'tzap
' command in shell. You need to close your tv app first and
have channels scanned with 'scan'. Example: scan /usr/share/doc/dvb-
utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/ >> ~/.tz
Now the signal strength meter works. It was probably another random
failure. Remember that you need to remove and reload the driver module
or reboot.

The problem is fixed for me with new driver update. The update that
helped was probably this one: af9015: don't reconnect device in USB-bus
- http://linuxtv.org/hg/~anttip/af9015/rev/369bfe445c82
But the signal strength meter seems to have gone now.
