Same problem here. uname -a says:
3.2.0-21-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 30 04:25:35 UTC 2012 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Putting the following line into /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf helped for
me:
options drm_kms_helper poll=N
But I think this should not be the final way.
Cheers,
Holger

Hi and sorry for late reply.
I've tested the UMTS card with 32bit version of Ubuntu 8.10. Here, the
card works sometimes (very strange). It works only if the following
conditions are given:
* the laptop is fresh started (means, no wake up from sleep mode was done)
* mobile network is available
*
Short update..
Ubuntu is final now, third kernel update is installed, but I cannot use my
PCMCIA UMTS card yet :(
Still hoping for help...

Fine, then I will have a look on these "spooky" just working support and
use the compat binaries instead. These works fine for me (I just use a
PAN to go online and write this answer ;) ).
Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the first answer on this strange behavior!
Hmm, partially this answer helps me. BUT ( ;) ) how does "just work"
works? I mean, what do I have to do to get an bluetooth PAN connection?
Is there any "nearer" info out there?
So, many thanks again!

Public bug reported:
Because of a bug in nozomi module for 64bit system in Ubuntu 8.04's
kernels I've waited for Ubuntu 8.10 to use my Option 3G+ PCMCIA card
(T-Mobile card, O2 Germany SIM card, card works on Windows).
Now, the card is recognized right and the module initializes complete. I've

Beside this is nearly outdated, I want to add, that this behavior is
reproducible on 64bit versions (for me: only!). The card is found
correctly, but on first access to card's interfaces the module crashes
with an oops. For locking you just have to reject the card...

I'm looking for "pand" on Ubuntu 8.10 (64bit) Beta. If I call it an info
message appears which introduces me to install "bluez-utils" package, but this
is still installed. The pand man page also exists. So what's going on?
