Additionally: I manage to connect with the display-update script (thanx for the

but my connection with ssvnc crashes the lightdm(-gtk-greeter) within a few
seconds and thus X-server and the session.

tried connecting a different monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW) with the

I tried connecting the laptop to a different monitor (Samsung SyncMaster
226BW), nothing changed, so I guess it doesn't depend on the VGA/monitor
combination (not that I really believed that the monitor had anything to
do with it, not I'm sure it doesn't).

trying with gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
($ aptitude show gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad), I have re-initialized totem and

Go to the end of the file, hit Ctrl+S every time you hit enter at the enf of

Kile will crash after 20 times or even only 3 times.
I tested three times: the first time it crashed is after 30 hits, the second
one after 20 hits, the third
Kile also crashed very frequently for me whenever I pressed the Ctrl+S
key to save the files. It is so often that I have to quit using Kile and
change back to Texmaker.

Same problem here on a Toshiba A100-317, cannot rmmod ipw3945 or kill
processes. The only solution is rebooting, and it doesn't always work.

Does that mean that it will be fixed only in Feisty? I patched it on
Edgy and it seems to work fine here.

Well that's certainly a good idea, but for now I'm stuck with this
frekking script. As an extremely unhealthy solution I hacked
/usr/lib/python2.4/site-package
I'm having the same problem on two different computers (both Edgy). I
tried to reproduce the error using the scripts provided by Donald Rogers
above and I got the following error:
"UnicodeEncodeError: 'latin-1' codec can't encode character u'\u015d' in
position 49: ordinal not in range(256)"
