Yes. I was getting the daily emails from Anacron about the dangling
symlink. I manually cleaned it up on 8/1/2007. The Anacron emails
stopped. But then they returned afresh on 8/7/2007.

I also can confirm it still doesn't work. In fact prior to today's
gutsy update I was able to connect to my wireless network (WEP) although
it was way slow. But now I cannot connect wireless at all (Intel 3945).
Tried several workarounds and reboots and the result is always the same.

Update: Yesterday (8/1/2007) I was on the computer most of the day and
never saw said meter once. This morning (8/2/2007) after installing
updates the meter has returned with a vengeance. Every few minutes it
pops back up. I'm running on a/c and dimming is not enabled, nor does

blank - as if the display were 100% dimmed. So I tested the brightness

During Friday's Feisty Beta daily update, the update asked me if I
wanted kdm or gdm. I am on Ubuntu and have never installed KDE or a K
program to my knowledge. Prior updates never asked me this. I answered

with the upgrades to Ubuntu Dapper Drake, it was the script that loads
EMC2 on Ubuntu that causes this issue. EMC2 needs a realtime kernel to
operate and some packages interfer with its operation so they are turned
