Firefox 10.0.2 not
No, I started with a clean profile and the problem still exists. It
happens if you start FF, connect to the vpn, change the network proxy
system wide and then navigate to a new page. Then it times out.

OK, description may be misleading - it turns out the proxy settings are
not respected no matter what, when a proxy is present.
And safe mode made no difference.

It *seems* if you start FF under the "right" proxy settings then things
work, if however you change the system proxy settings FF does not pick
up the change. And it should. So, for example, I am at work, wake from
hibernation, set proxy, go to FF, and all I get is "Unable to C
Sorry, not having a good day. I see that the fix is in .17, so I need to see
how to get that version.

Tried to install a couple of packages that failed. One was Failed to

OK, but that's a source code patch. Therefore I would have to compile
etc. I don't really want to get into that.
So, the real issue is in

to building myself is to wait until a dev version with this fix goes in?

Well, I got as far as installing a dev version of w32codecs from here:

could install the non-free codecs from the medibuntu repos. However,
still no go. I get some sort of playback now, but it is all broken up.

This is netbook remix. Ubuntu 9.10. Upgraded brasero to 2.28.2. Both
before and after upgrade Movie Player reports "Could not open location.
