I got a mail with a reasonable explanation of the problem, that I'd like
to ad to the report:
"My investigations on the net indicate that the source of the problem is
the LVDS (built-in LCD panel) controller of the graphics card. In my
case this is a National 2501 chip. It seems that older drivers
I believe we have a bunch of duplicates with the same problem. I'm not going to
mark them as such since I believe there are people better suited to to make
that judgement. But here is a list:

I've got a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook S6010. It has the same graphics
card, the same problem, and the same error message.
