Long time ago now, sorry for not replying until now,
I have not tried your suggested install, at the time I did manage to fix it

This is likely a bluez bug, not a pulseaudio one, since it only affects

Same problem here. bluez 5.50, pulseaudio 13.0. Sony WH-1000XM3.
Fiddling with the buttons on the headset makes it show up as a HCI

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and this problem has still not been fixed nor
has anybody looked at it, I would like it fixed because I don't want to
go back to Mac OS X, but I might have to because this is just

My workaround on Kubuntu 18.04 (bionic):
Trying to remove "breeze" failed, telling me that "kubuntu-desktop",
"plasma-desktop", and "plasma-integration breeze" depend on it.
So I first remove "breeze", forcing it to ignore these dependencies:
# dpkg -r --ignore-depends=kubuntu-desktop,plasma-desk
To be more precise on the first line of my above comment:
"My workaround on Kubuntu 18.04 (bionic) being updated to 18.10 (cosmic)"
