I also hoped that this function will do something like mini-cd
installation is doing - install all updated packages already during

Hi. I gave up more testing with this chip. As you can see, this bug is
here more then year and half, still with the same results. So I bought

I had the same problem, usb-creator didn't overwrite the boot sector.
Version from ppa archive overwrites the sector correctly with syslinux.

I can confirm this, last version from ppa is very slow, it took me around 1 hour to create 4G usb stick with persistence file.
But the good news is, it created boot sector correctly (I had problems, that it was installed grub on that usb stick before,
and the usb-creator from standard ubuntu reposi
Link change helped me too. But the system is still booting the old
kernel. What to change to boot the last kernel? (Ubuntu 8.10 on USB
persistant)

So because of this problem, I decided to use Aircrack driver again. But
it is not so easy as I thought, there are compilation problems with
2.6.27-7 kernel (and maybe all 2.6.27 based kernels)

Today I tried to upgrade to 8.10.
Now I have kernel 2.6.27-7 and the original driver still drops the connection.
The next problem is that it is not possible to compile the modified version, I
get this error messages:

Agree, still problems with this driver. In my case, it is not possible
to authentificate using WEP encryption, signal is also around 15% - also
not correct.

Did anyone try Ubuntu 8.10 Beta? In this version, I can't connect to my AP at
all.
The signal is very weak, after insterting right password, I can see time out

I had these problems with WEP encryption, so the problem is somewhere
else. Anyway, My small HowTo taken from aircrack site still works OK.

I have to confirm the message above. After installing the driver from mentioned
aircrack-ng link and followed the manual.
But little bit different, because the wireless connection is the only internet
connection I have.

I have Asus P5W DH motherboard, where is this card also integrated as USB

I have exactly same problems as many times described in this thread - loosing
wifi connection.
My system is Ubuntu 8.04 64bit, kernel 2.6.24-19-generic, but the same
