Ok, I tried it and it worked. I'd say this bug can be closed but it's
strange the way things are going in the Ubuntu world...

For me the problem vanished after I updated the proprietary nvidia
driver v304 to v310. I don't know what this has to do with i386
problems (at least it's a amd64 system) but since this update I got no
more problems with crashes.

After even more testing I can say, it's definitely triggered by XFCE
stuff. Now I'm using gnome desktop and everything runs fine. But: the
segfaults happened in libc & libglib, so the problem is definitely
inside one of those libs. Maybe the gnome stuff itself doesn't use the
i386-parts? Then why a
I have similar problems, but not during install, it's more afterwards,
the symptoms are even worse. I'm using XFCE and these are the log-

Ok, the package iproute is in the standard isos and included is (of
course) ip, which can do the following:
ip link add link eth1 name eth1.7 type vlan id 7
This replaces the vlan-tools.

And to be precise: it can be used with the original xpdf-packages from

compiling from source and it also worked. This means: for those of you

BTW, because Oneiric is almost in feature freeze: this is very important

@Marcel: Ok, I understand that the SRU process is needed. My problem is
that I (and I guess lots of other people here) don't have the background

This is a bit strange to me. The stable version doesn't run, it

have the strange situation that the bug will not be fixed for the
environment it has been found? I don't want to update to oneiric now and

Even more strange: audio is possible, but video isn't. It might be
because I don't have a camera connected. But when someone else tries to
do a video-connection to me, my client crashes immediately. In fact,
this is a remote DOS, I'd even call this critical.

Yes, I got the same problem. It's not fixed, because the dependency of
wine1.2 doesn't solve anything. It should depend on wine version >= 1.2
otherwise you cannot use lmms together with a working wine (wine 1.2 is
lightyears away from being "funtional" in my opinion. wine 1.3.19 was

I installed wine 1.3 (from launchpad) and it removed lmms because lmms depends
