I get the same RT_CONSISTENT assertion failure when running X with the nvidia binary module on an i386 install on amd64 hardware. Default gutsy install. I tried the ld.so.nohwcap trick, but it did not fix the problem, neither did reinstalling xserver-xorg-core and nvidia-glx-new. My libc6 is 2.6.
