You are right, I just recognized that only one of the patches went to
stable. But as both are required to fix the bug, I think I'll ask if the
other patch could go to stable, too.

With the release of the new package I did happily see that the patch from
revision 921 (which fixed the problem for me) was added.
Unfortunately I had to realize that also "xaa_solid.patch" was added what
re-introduced the gimp-hang for me. I was also reporting that upstream in bug

today I tested the maverick alpha 1 and observed the same behavior as with
lucid:
1. No extra kernel parameters:
- vga16fb is loaded and not [u]vesafb
- thus the framebuffer terminal does not work on my NC20 (maybe I should open

when using uvesafb or vesafb, these drivers will create uncached-minus
PAT entries for the framebuffer memory because they use ioremap(). WHen
the framebuffer memory intersects with the video RAM used by Xorg, the
complete video RAM will be mapped uncached-minus what resu

kernel 2.6.32-7.9.
