I saw something similar as well, but not with kdebase. I saw the very
same message when trying to update from Kubuntu 9.10 64-bit to 10.04.
However, a bit before I saw this message it complained about not being
able to install the xorg-video-fglrx package. I was using the ATI
driver packages from
I realize it's a bit late, but my sound has been working fine in Karmic.
Just thought I'd give an update.

Unfortunately, I'm having a completely unrelated issue with my install, so
I'm going to wipe it and install the release version fresh. I'll let you
know when that happens, though.

Thanks for the info! I'll remember that when I upgrade to the release
version. One issue I did run into was that my alsa mixer settings were not
being saved, so I would have to mute that A/D Output Jack on every startup.
"aslactl store" would come back with a message saying "/home/jd not our

week using Jaunty. I did update to the latest package but still had no
sound because of this bug, so it may not be fixed for people upgrading

It will be a while before I get a chance to test this bug. My computer has
been broken for some time now and I am currently unable to fix it. I will
keep this info, though, so that I can try it out when I do get my computer

I experience this in Kubuntu Feisty (AMD64). Also, I noticed that I
cannot click the Apply button after I add a user in this dialog. Go to
the Advanced tab and look at the Security options. From there, click on
the Password tab. You'll see a box for "SMB passwd file" that points to

I have the same problem here as well with my MX5000 set. I have to
unplug and replug the USB bluetooth dongle (BT 2.0 EDR) when KDM or GDM
start. If I boot into the recovery mode terminal, the keyboard works
and I can start KDM/GDM from there with no problems. I have not tried
removing bluez yet
I use amaroK 1.4.3 in Ubuntu Dapper (x64) and the problem seems to no longer
be there.
