Some investigations tells, that GM 965 was blacklisted in
/usr/bin/compiz.
Please, turn it back on, compzi actually work fine on my X3100 card.
And "XV does not play with XAA under compiz, only with EXA " looks very

It seems to me, that problem happenes if i run console, and some using
sudo.
for example if i run console, and then run "sudo ls", it won't reboot.
but if i only boot system, and then reboot - sometime it will do well

i have reinstalled Xorg server, using synaptics, and then done dpkg-
reconfigure xorg,
but the problem still exists, have made "ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-video-

yes i have completely clean install, and checked with all updates, same
happenes if i do something using liveCD, for example running ls in
terminal, after that reboot or shutdown can't finish.

Ok, i made it with bootchar=nonstop, so the result is in attachments.
The delay was beetwen 30 and 40s of booting, at this time screen blinks
and there is no disk activity, as you can see in graphics.

i have just installed bootchart and tested the system.
result was: the main delay (about 15-20s) is taken after bootchart
completes its job.
i mean system blinks the screen and do some other strange things before
gdm, but after bootchart.
may be this can have some correlation with this bug

I confirm, that workaround by Robert is good for me, when splash is
turned off in menu.lst system reboots well.
But there is another side, the system gets about two time slower at
boot! from 25s to GDM to 40s.

This bug affects me too. But i think, that "/ is busy" isn't the
problem.
As for me, i see this incorrect behavior only when "killing all
remaining processes fails" on shutdown/reboot, also it depends on
running terminal applications.

Acer 6292 laptop.
WLAN key still doesn't work. After updating to 2.6.27-7 kernel in auto-
