A very crude workaround that I tried is to disable the apparmor profile
evnice, similar to firefox and issuing
sudo apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince.
Obviously evince works now, but this is far from satisfactory.

Hi Seth,
I have my home under /home/, it is just on a different partition. I face
the same issue with evince.
Executing sudo dpkg-reconfigure apparmor does not solve the problem for
me. I passed /home/ and /home// but it doesn't work. Any
suggestions?

I am using Ubuntu Gnome 14.10, I did a clean install. Unfortunately, I
am facing frequent crashes with Gnome Shell. The shell often becomes
unresponsive, and crashes randomly in the middle.

However, I sometimes use alpha builds and upgrade/downgrade packages.
During the process, I was once stuck on a old kernel which was not
getting updated (3.13-16 I think). I installed the Ubuntu release kernel
3.13-24 manually.

I made made almost 5-6 attempts but can't even login to my system with
kernel 3.15-rc7. I am facing this problem intermittently with versions
3.15-rc7, 3.15-rc5, 3.14.1, 3.13-27.
Not sure if this could be because of other missing packages or
dependencies. Any ideas?

Yes, thanks for the bug post. This is one feature which has been
bothering me to no ends. I am facing this bug since maybe early Jan
developer releases of Precise. I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop and a
Logitech usb wireless mouse. However, interesting part is that I do not
face this issue with Oneiric.
That is cool! Thanks for your effort. Gnome Mahjongg is the best,
although I personally prefer the older version.
